Ali Oladele
HI, I'm
a Registered Psychologist, licensed through the College of Alberta Psychologists, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and an EMDR clinician. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic environment where you will feel safe to share your story, how you are experiencing life, and where you are struggling. My goal is to meet you where you are at and to work collaboratively with you to make the changes you want to see in your life. I do not offer a one size fits all approach as we are all individual and require different support. I will work with you toward the goals that you would like to achieve with therapeutic approaches such as Trauma Theories, Attachment Theories, Parts Work, and mindfulness

In addition to my Masters of Counselling, I have completed training in Existential Therapy, Mindfulness CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I believe that these modalities enable us to evaluate patterns, explore our inner experiences, increase awareness of emotions, process the past, and heal the nervous system so that we can move forward toward a fuller, more satisfying life; mind, body, and soul.

My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss (including miscarriage and infant loss), disordered eating, relationship issues, parenting, maternal mental health, and life transitions. My professional and personal experiences inform my practice and have provided me with the opportunity to connect with and support others in these areas.

I have experience working with children, youth, and adults, including individuals, couples, and families. I have previously worked in various programs for non-for profit organizations.

FAQ
-
What should I expect on the first session? The first session will start with going over your rights as a client (understanding consent is really important!) and signing consent forms. There will be some questions about what brings you in and you will have an opportunity to share your story. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions that you might have. By the end of the session you should have a better understanding of how I work.
-
Why do I have to pay for a late cancellation or no show?I have set aside that time for you in my schedule and you are responsible for that time. I value my time as well as yours! I often have a waitlist so someone else may be able to use your scheduled appointment time if you cannot. Please provide 24 hours notice to avoid any fees. If you are running late, please call/text or email me to let me know - I will wait! Your session will end at the regular time.
-
Do you offer a sliding scale fee?I offer a limited number spots at a reduced rate. Please discuss this with me prior to your session.
-
Is it ok if my child is in the room during a session? An individual session is a really great time to focus on yourself! Children and babies can feel the emotions around them and sessions may bring up difficult emotions. It may be difficult to focus on yourself if your children are present. Should child care be an issue, please feel free to discuss it with me prior to your appointment. If you need to cancel, please provide me with at least 24 hours notice, as per the cancellation policy.
-
Can I book a session if I'm travelling or live outside of Alberta? No. Unfortunately, I am only registered in Alberta, and can only offer sessions to those who are physically in Alberta at the time of their session. If you live outside of Alberta, try searching your area for local supports.
